Design thinking is a human-centered methodology for creative problem solving, which is fast emerging as an indispensable 21st century skill set. While individuals of all ages can benefit from it, design thinking can be an especially potent mechanism for rekindling innovative thinking in the youth, training them to come up with novel solutions to tough problems. As such, it is an effective remedy for combating one of the most glaring defects of stale educational systems, namely their tendency to undermine critical and original thinking and suppress the students’ creative potential.

Drawing upon the most up to date advances in the field, Dr. Yahya Tabesh has customized design thinking for K12 students in Iran. Written in Persian, the textbook Tafakor-e Tarahi and the accompanying teacher’s manual Karegah-e Tafakor-e Tarahi, will prove indispensable in training the next generation of Iranian critical thinkers, problem solvers, and entrepreneurs.
